Kishidake Castle is a medieval mountain castle located at the peak of Kishidake. Coming to power during the period between 1336 – 1392, it is known mainly for being the castle of Lord Hata of the Matsuura Clan during the Warring States period of Japanese history. There is a legend that long ago the mountaintop was the home of demons, and was called 'Onigatake'.

During the Warring States period (after 1603), it became the property of Lord Terasawa of the Karatsu Domain, and was largely rebuilt using stones.

From the excavation of Shishiga Castle in Kyuragi, it can be concluded that it was torn down sometime between 1630 – 1640.
